How it works

→ Fires when the Kaus index reaches 5 or higher
→ Or when Bz has held south of −10 nT for 10+ minutes straight
→ Or when BOM issues an official aurora alert for the Australian region
→ At most one alert every 3 hours, so a multi-hour storm doesn’t spam you
→ Works on iPhone (iOS 16.4+) and Android, no app to install

Set up alerts on your device

iPhone & iPad (Safari)

Open this site in Safari
Tap the Share icon in the toolbar
Tap Add to Home Screen
Open AuroraSee from the new Home Screen icon
Tap Turn on storm alerts and allow notifications

Android (Chrome)

Open this site in Chrome
Tap Turn on storm alerts
Tap Allow when prompted for notifications
Optional: menu → Add to Home screen for one-tap access

Laptop & Desktop

Open this page in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari
Click Turn on storm alerts
Click Allow in the browser’s permission prompt
On Windows: open Settings → System → Notifications and make sure your browser (e.g. Google Chrome) is turned on in the app list — Windows blocks notifications at the OS level even when the site permission is allowed
